Terms of Service

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service are an agreement between the adult account holder and Literacy Lab, LLC, which operates Unleash Literacy ("Unleash," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating or managing an account, or permitting a learner to use it, you agree to these Terms. You confirm that you are at least 18 years old, are legally able to enter into this agreement, and have authority to provide access to each learner profile associated with your account. If you do not agree, do not create an account or permit use of the service.

Description of Service

Unleash Literacy is an online reading-instruction platform aligned with structured literacy principles and the Orton-Gillingham methodology. Families may choose to use it as a primary reading program or alongside other educational supports. Unleash does not provide medical, diagnostic, legal, or state-specific educational-compliance services.

Adult Accounts and Learner Use

Only a parent, legal guardian, or other adult authorized by a parent or legal guardian may create and manage an Unleash account for a child. Learners may use the learner application only with the account holder's permission and supervision appropriate to the learner's age. A learner does not enter into a separate contract with Unleash by using a learner profile.

You agree to provide accurate account information, keep it current, protect your login credentials, and notify us promptly if you believe the account has been accessed without authorization. You are responsible for activity under your account and for confirming that Unleash is suitable for each learner.

Plans, Subscriptions, and Payment

Unleash offers a Free plan with limited features and monthly lesson usage, as well as monthly paid Core and Max plans. The current price, learner limits, lesson limits, and included features are shown on the pricing or purchase screen. If those details conflict with general descriptions elsewhere on the site, the details presented when you confirm a purchase control for that purchase.

Paid plans renew monthly until canceled. Prices are stated in U.S. dollars, and applicable taxes may be added. By starting a paid plan, you authorize our payment processor to charge the payment method you provide at the start of each billing period. We may suspend paid features if a payment fails or remains unpaid. We will provide reasonable advance notice of a material price increase before it applies to a future renewal.

You may cancel a paid plan through account settings at any time. Unless the purchase screen states otherwise, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, paid access continues until then, and the account returns to the features and limits of the Free plan. Canceling a subscription does not itself delete the account or its learner records; deletion is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

Free Trial

An eligible account that has not previously used a standard trial may receive a 30-day trial of the Core plan. Promotional or referral offers may extend a trial when the offer is displayed to you. Trial availability and length are confirmed on the purchase screen before you start the trial.

A payment method is required to start a trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the Core plan begins automatically and the payment method will be charged the then-disclosed monthly price. Standard trial eligibility is determined at the account level, and an account may receive only one standard trial.

Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first paid subscription charge for an account. If you are not satisfied, contact [email protected] within 30 days of that charge to request a full refund. Later subscription charges are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated at purchase. This policy does not limit any non-waivable consumer rights.

Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion

You may stop using Unleash at any time and may cancel a paid plan as described above. You may also request deletion of the account and learner information using the procedures in our Privacy Policy and data-deletion page.

We may limit, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary because of nonpayment, unlawful or harmful activity, a material violation of these Terms, a threat to the security or operation of the service, or a legal requirement. When reasonably practicable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue before termination. We may act immediately when delay could cause harm, compromise security, or violate law.

Subscription cancellation, suspension, or termination does not automatically delete account or learner information. Information is retained and deleted according to our Privacy Policy, including any rights to request access or deletion. Provisions that by their nature should continue after termination, including intellectual-property, disclaimer, and liability provisions, remain effective.

Intellectual Property

All content, software, and design on Unleash Literacy is owned by Literacy Lab, LLC or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the platform, attempt to access other users' accounts, reverse-engineer the software, or use the platform for any unlawful purpose.

Educational and Service Disclaimers

Learners differ, and Unleash does not guarantee a particular reading outcome, rate of progress, assessment result, or suitability for every learner. Unleash does not diagnose dyslexia or other learning disabilities and is not a substitute for evaluation or advice from a qualified educator, clinician, or other professional.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for deciding how Unleash fits within a learner's education and for satisfying any school, homeschool, reporting, testing, or other requirements that apply where they live.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from loss. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Literacy Lab, LLC and its officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or opportunities, arising from or related to Unleash or these Terms.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising from or related to Unleash or these Terms will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid to Literacy Lab, LLC for Unleash during the six months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for our fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence where applicable, and they do not limit non-waivable consumer rights.

Privacy and Third-Party Services

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and delete personal information, including learner information and speech data. If these Terms conflict with the Privacy Policy concerning personal-information practices, the Privacy Policy controls.

Unleash relies on third-party providers for services such as hosting, payments, email delivery, error monitoring, and speech processing. Those providers may affect the availability or operation of particular features. Payment information is handled by our payment processor rather than stored directly by Unleash. Our use of providers and their handling of personal information are described in the Privacy Policy.

The service may contain links to independently operated websites or resources. We do not control or endorse those external services, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you choose to use them.

Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by email or platform notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
